MOTION

Q. What is Motion and its type..?

Ans:-

MOTION: Any object is said to be in state of motion if it moves or changes its place.

TYPES:

There are three types of Motion

1. Translatory Motion: If a body moves along a straight line or in a straight path it is called Translatory motion. For example, trains usually run on straight tracks they are said to be in translatory motion. Translatory motion can further be divided into three types

  • Linear
  • Rectilinear
  • Circular

2. Rotatory Motion: If a body rotates around its axis. It is said to be in rotatory motion. For example, our earth and other planets rotate around their axis there fore we can say that earth is in rotatory motion.

Note: There is a type of rotatory motion called Circular motion. The difference between Rotatory and Circular motion is that, in rotatory motion body rotates around its own axis but in circular motion body circles around the axis of another body)

3. Vibratory Motion: When a body moves to and fro continuously, it creates vibrations and there fore is said to be in vibratory motion. Vibratory motion is also known as Oscillatory motion. For example, the motion of a pendulum is a vibratory motion.
